The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Galinsky got free with Boris Tremmel in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Wolf hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Heinz-Dieter Geipel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Oliver Zinn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Yanick Kiener hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the 16thth minute of the game Klaus-Marco Sulzer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fenerbahce Wien's Oliver Zinn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 22nd match minute, University of Toronto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Wolf to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominic Schätzle in the 25th minute of play forced University of Toronto's goalkeeper Boris Tremmel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Manuel Galinsky had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Manuel Galinsky left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fenerbahce Wien fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 35 played minutes University of Toronto got a freekick which was hit by Justus Schnell. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Manuel Galinsky managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fenerbahce Wien's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Galinsky was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boris Tremmel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Boris Tremmel made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Manuel Galinsky sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 45 minutes, Dominic Schätzle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fenerbahce Wien's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dominic Schätzle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Heinz-Dieter Geipel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Dominic Schätzle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in University of Toronto's zone, Manuel Galinsky stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boris Tremmel came out of the goal and Manuel Galinsky tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Fenerbahce Wien's Jan-Peter Antons got a free kick in the 57th minute. When Klaus-Marco Sulzer came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the University of Toronto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaus-Marco Sulzer couldn't finish the play. Dominic Schätzle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boris Tremmel having to interfere. Oliver Zinn was a little too slow when Heinz-Dieter Geipel got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 2-2. After a rather tough play, University of Toronto's Maxi Lüthje got a free kick in the 77th minute. University of Toronto's Boris Tremmel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Schätzle in the 79th minute of play. The supporters of Fenerbahce Wien booed when University of Toronto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan-Hendrik Gabler didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Dominic Schätzle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel Galinsky struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Boris Tremmel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fenerbahce Wien. 87 minutes into the game, Dominic Schätzle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Boris Tremmel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 92nd minute Manuel Galinsky shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boris Tremmel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Manuel Galinsky came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Fenerbahce Wien fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Galinsky couldn't finish the play. Dominic Schätzle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fenerbahce Wien fans cheered their team off the field, for while University of Toronto had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
