In the 14th match minute, Galatasaray SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Philip Ibertsberger to maneuver through the defense. Victorio Demesio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gunnar Taevere read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Roque Claus blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gunnar Taevere having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Lanzenkirchen's zone, Klaus Beudel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Åke Brummer came out of the goal and Klaus Beudel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 26 played minutes Lanzenkirchen got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Chiellini. Karl-Åke Brummer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduard Säuml in the 28th minute of play. Victorio Demesio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Gunnar Taevere made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduard Säuml in the 39th minute of play forced Lanzenkirchen's goalkeeper Karl-Åke Brummer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joakim Frankvig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Roque Claus came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Lanzenkirchen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Claus couldn't finish the play. 47 minutes into the game, Victorio Demesio lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Gunnar Taevere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Lanzenkirchen's supporters rose to their feet, but Roque Claus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gunnar Taevere breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Galatasaray SK defense, Sören Bergmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gunnar Taevere. The Galatasaray SK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gunnar Taevere should have stopped the shot. In the 95th match minute, Galatasaray SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boleslaw Marciewicz to maneuver through the defense. 96 minutes into the match, Galatasaray SK's goal looked a bit too open when Victorio Demesio came free, but Gunnar Taevere reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lanzenkirchen fans cheered their team off the field, for while Galatasaray SK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
