To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Saúl Tremura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hurst Green's supporters rose to their feet, but Saúl Tremura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hernani Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Emílio Valies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hernani Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio Valies in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Afonso Jacaré stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Hurst Green's Delmano Russo got a free kick in the 51st minute. With a little luck, Ware AFC's Hernani Melo got control of the ball when Emílio Valies tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Saúl Tremura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 87 minutes, Emílio Valies managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hurst Green's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Valies was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Saúl Tremura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernani Melo was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. In the 94th minute, Viveque Dikaté hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hurst Green's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
