Hugh Greenwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Todd Deveraux in the 12th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ged Blewitt in the 16th minute of play forced MISCO FC's goalkeeper Scott Hodges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 played minutes, Cannock's Stuart Bray shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Scott Hodges came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cannock reached it. Paul Downton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Greenwood having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, MISCO FC's Paul Downton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hugh Greenwood narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Downton in the 31st minute of play forced Cannock's goalkeeper Hugh Greenwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes into the match, MISCO FC's goalkeeper Scott Hodges had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ralf Revell. Darryl Knowles kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Shaun Tyrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paul Downton was the one to do the kick off. Shaun Tyrell struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Hugh Greenwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MISCO FC. In the 54th match minute, Cannock was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calvin Rashleigh to maneuver through the defense. Paul Downton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Hugh Greenwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Scott Hodges made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Des Hawkins in the 62nd minute of play. When Paul Downton came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the MISCO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paul Downton couldn't finish the play. Paul Downton kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Scott Hodges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ged Blewitt in the 70th minute of the match. 71 minutes into the match, MISCO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ged Blewitt came free, but Scott Hodges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cannock's Gary Riley got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 76 minutes into the game, George Alderson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Scott Hodges dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The Cannock players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
