Tebogo Roberts kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the game, Solly Magakula was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PICOLO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DISTRICT 9 the free kick. The supporters of DISTRICT 9 booed when PICOLO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Solly Magakula didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in PICOLO's zone, Johann Thompson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jason Thompson came out of the goal and Johann Thompson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steve Melele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Thompson having to interfere. Dean Patel kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 20th match minute, DISTRICT 9 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jabu Mandela to maneuver through the defense. When Johann Thompson came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the DISTRICT 9 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Johann Thompson couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute, DISTRICT 9's Steve Melele dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. When Johann Thompson came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the DISTRICT 9 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Johann Thompson couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute, Johann Thompson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jason Thompson, passed just outside the right post. If Basil Konza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 47 minutes, Steve Melele managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. DISTRICT 9's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steve Melele was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, PICOLO's Jason Thompson got control of the ball when Johann Thompson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind PICOLO's goalkeeper Jason Thompson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Yacoob Klein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the DISTRICT 9 defense, Basil Konza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Mufadi. The DISTRICT 9 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Mufadi should have stopped the shot. DISTRICT 9's Johann Thompson got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 68th minute Steve Melele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Thompson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basil Konza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Yacoob Klein managed to get in a good position for a shot. PICOLO's supporters rose to their feet, but Yacoob Klein was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Albert Mufadi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. DISTRICT 9's Albert Mufadi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yacoob Klein in the 83rd minute of play. In the 90thth minute of the game Steve Melele who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PICOLO's Jason Thompson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Steve Melele's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jason Thompson was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
