Yacoob Klein's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henry Modipa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. If Melusi Mokhasi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the game, Simamane Vanker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PICOLO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ajax Amsterdam the free kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jafta Nauseb got free with Jason Thompson in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Basil Konza came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the PICOLO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basil Konza couldn't finish the play. Jason Thompson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melusi Mokhasi in the 47th minute of the match. Melusi Mokhasi might have been able to make a better finish in the 49th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jason Thompson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Melusi Mokhasi ran back to his position shaking his head. Melusi Mokhasi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Melusi Mokhasi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Thompson having to interfere. Jafta Nauseb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
