Nkosi Machete was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Aubrey Webb showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Milton Thwala in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Godfrey Mabalane saved FC YamYam from getting behind. In the 20th minute, Jonas Manyethela left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grasshoppers FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Jonas Manyethela came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Grasshoppers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonas Manyethela couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute Elias Tshabalala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godfrey Mabalane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grasshoppers FC's Johannes Smith got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Godfrey Mabalane stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonas Manyethela's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. If Elias Tshabalala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
