If Rob Maduna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the match, Highlanders FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rob Maduna came free, but Delron Thembe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Atlantis FC's Meshack Mangope nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Delron Thembe made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thabile Thobejane got free with Edries Mayoyo in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ivan Serage charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivan Serage the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ivan Serage hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Edries Mayoyo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Thabile Thobejane showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 20 minute of play. When Tebogo Etafia fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlantis FC's protests and gave Tebogo Etafia a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Atlantis FC's zone, Thabile Thobejane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edries Mayoyo came out of the goal and Thabile Thobejane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Delron Thembe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Meshack Mangope in the 43rd minute of play. Edries Mayoyo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thabile Thobejane in the 47th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rob Maduna to make the kick off. Highlanders FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 52nd minute, when Rob Maduna scored to the left of an out of position Delron Thembe, making the score, 1-2. In the 57th minute Thabile Thobejane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edries Mayoyo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edries Mayoyo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Siphokazi Dube, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Thabile Thobejane blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edries Mayoyo having to make a save. In the 77th match minute, Highlanders FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lesego Tembe to maneuver through the defense. Petru Buculeasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Edries Mayoyo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thabile Thobejane fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edries Mayoyo having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rob Maduna in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Delron Thembe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 85 minutes into the match, Highlanders FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tebogo Etafia came free, but Delron Thembe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute of the match Rob Maduna sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Delron Thembe skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Atlantis FC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Nazeer Thompson hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Siphokazi Dube's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edries Mayoyo was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Rob Maduna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
