After 6 played minutes Juventus FC got a freekick which was hit by René Peterek. 7 minutes into the match, CSKA's Gilbert Ruzicki sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Olexiy Stus narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 9th minute of the match, Níels Nesta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Olexiy Stus was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 11 minutes into the match, Juventus FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Ruzicki came free, but Olexiy Stus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Simon Mignolet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Laredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Zbyszek Sierocki might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Simon Mignolet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zbyszek Sierocki ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 19th minute Gilbert Ruzicki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olexiy Stus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute CSKA were awarded a corner. Gilbert Ruzicki went to the cornerflag to take it. Trond Soltveit came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Olexiy Stus could save by the left post. In the 24th minute Gilbert Ruzicki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olexiy Stus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, CSKA's goal looked a bit too open when Gaspar Laredo came free, but Simon Mignolet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilbert Ruzicki was the one to do the kick off. Gilbert Ruzicki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olexiy Stus having to interfere. Simon Mignolet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gaspar Laredo in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zbyszek Sierocki in the 55th minute of play forced CSKA's goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 57 minutes into the game, when René Peterek put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Juventus FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CSKA:s goal. Olexiy Stus had in the 58thth minute some difficulties stopping Trond Soltveit's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The corner led CSKA's Gilbert Ruzicki to fire away a dangerous shot which Olexiy Stus despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. CSKA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
