A very good chance. Gabi Balint struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Edgar Şuplăcan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua București. Mihăiţă Ipătescu's late challenge caught a LIVERPOOL FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mihăiţă Ipătescu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of LIVERPOOL FC booed when Steaua București was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihăiţă Ipătescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marius Lăcătușu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgar Şuplăcan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabi Balint, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Codrin Văcaru blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edgar Şuplăcan having to make a save. A collision led to LIVERPOOL FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Costel Blajovici hit a great ball. After 25 minutes, Costel Blajovici mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the LIVERPOOL FC and the Steaua București players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, LIVERPOOL FC's Costel Blajovici got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute, Corneliu Jivulescu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and LIVERPOOL FC's Edgar Şuplăcan didn't even have to move. In the 31st minute, Petruț Şimoc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gabi Balint had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. LIVERPOOL FC's Costel Blajovici got his second yellow card of the match in the 34th minute. The referee ordered Costel Blajovici off the ground. The audience was convinced that Gabi Balint's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edgar Şuplăcan was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 37thth minute of the game Codrin Văcaru who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LIVERPOOL FC's Edgar Şuplăcan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Chiriac in the 39th minute of play forced Steaua București's goalkeeper Mihăiţă Neața to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Edgar Şuplăcan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Ilie Adrian managed to get in a good position for a shot. Steaua București's supporters rose to their feet, but Ilie Adrian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgar Şuplăcan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Gabi Balint sped through LIVERPOOL FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edgar Şuplăcan. In the 57th match minute, LIVERPOOL FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maxim Şuplăcan to maneuver through the defense. Gabi Balint took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edgar Şuplăcan. Edgar Şuplăcan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 66th minute, Corneliu Jivulescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Codrin Văcaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gabi Balint recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgar Şuplăcan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codrin Văcaru in the 73rd minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, LIVERPOOL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gabi Balint came free, but Edgar Şuplăcan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Şuplăcan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Codrin Văcaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabi Balint in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgar Şuplăcan saved LIVERPOOL FC from getting behind. Gabi Balint recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 94 minutes, Codrin Văcaru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua București's supporters crossed their fingers, but Codrin Văcaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. LIVERPOOL FC's Edgar Şuplăcan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabi Balint in the 96th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Steaua București players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
