Spectators: 7515 (Terracing: 5637, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Iustin Cocârlă took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Cintulei's Răzvan Ghișerel in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye OTELUL GALATI's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Răzvan Ghișerel in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Basarab Ştefoi saved OTELUL GALATI from getting behind. Valer Novacovici could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Albert Arvinte made a huge save. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cintulei's goalkeeper Albert Arvinte, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 27 played minutes OTELUL GALATI got a freekick which was hit by Cornel Şantău. Basarab Ştefoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Răzvan Ghișerel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute Răzvan Ghișerel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basarab Ştefoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. OTELUL GALATI's Basarab Ştefoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Răzvan Ghișerel in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Iustin Cocârlă fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cintulei's Albert Arvinte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iustin Cocârlă in the 35th minute of play. Gigel Găvănescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basarab Ştefoi having to interfere. After a rather tough play, OTELUL GALATI's Petruț Tadici got a free kick in the 38th minute. Albert Arvinte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iustin Cocârlă in the 43rd minute of play. The supporters of OTELUL GALATI booed when Cintulei was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cătălin Iuonaș didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basarab Ştefoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gigel Găvănescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Răzvan Ghișerel made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Cintulei's Cătălin Iuonaș got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 59th minute, Valer Novacovici got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iustin Cocârlă in the 61st minute of play forced Cintulei's goalkeeper Albert Arvinte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gigel Găvănescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Basarab Ştefoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Petruț Tadici hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Răzvan Ghișerel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 77th minute Răzvan Ghișerel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basarab Ştefoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the OTELUL GALATI defense, Gigel Găvănescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Basarab Ştefoi. The OTELUL GALATI fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basarab Ştefoi should have stopped the shot. In the 82nd match minute, OTELUL GALATI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iustin Cocârlă to maneuver through the defense. After 86 played minutes Răzvan Ghișerel rounded OTELUL GALATI's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Răzvan Ghișerel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basarab Ştefoi having to interfere. Gigel Găvănescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Basarab Ştefoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. The Cintulei supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cintulei would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
