Damian Oroveanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgar Carp having to interfere. Mihăiţă Oblemenco charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mihăiţă Oblemenco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lucian Lăzăroiu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the game, Lucian Lăzăroiu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Edgar Carp was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucian Lăzăroiu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomnatec's supporters rose to their feet, but Ion Mazilu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sever Baniciu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sever Baniciu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcu Bărăian in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Tomnatec's zone, Lucian Lăzăroiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Carp came out of the goal and Lucian Lăzăroiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the game, Ilie Mircescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tomnatec's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Viitorul Berceni the free kick. After 76 played minutes Tomnatec got a freekick which was hit by Ilie Mircescu. With a little luck, Viitorul Berceni's Sever Baniciu got control of the ball when Ion Mazilu tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Viitorul Berceni booed when Tomnatec was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugurel Şteflea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucian Lăzăroiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Viitorul Berceni getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Vlad Nedelcu hit a great ball. Damian Oroveanu struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Edgar Carp didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Viitorul Berceni. Ilie Mircescu was shown his second yellow card after 95 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Edgar Carp stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lucian Lăzăroiu's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Viitorul Berceni fully deserved thier win.
