Spectators: 7528 (Terracing: 5647, Seating: 1731, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Lucrețiu Schiau took the kick off in the first half of the match. After having played for 7 minutes, Octav Codrea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gledeny's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octav Codrea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dumitru Atanasiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mircea Cângea in the 8th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Emanuel Tomescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC STEAUA's supporters rose to their feet, but Emanuel Tomescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Dică breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucrețiu Schiau in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Dică saved Gledeny from getting behind. In the 15thth minute of the game Lucrețiu Schiau who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gledeny's Eric Dică was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 15 minutes, Flavius Codru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gledeny and the FC STEAUA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Flavius Codru kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Dumitru Atanasiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Cângea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the FC STEAUA defense, Octav Codrea kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dumitru Atanasiu. The FC STEAUA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dumitru Atanasiu should have stopped the shot. In the 30th minute, Octav Codrea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, FC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Flavius Codru came free, but Dumitru Atanasiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dumitru Atanasiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mircea Cângea, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Mircea Cângea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Mircea Cângea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Mircea Cângea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dumitru Atanasiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dumitru Atanasiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mircea Cângea in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Octav Codrea to make the kick off. Emanuel Tomescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emanuel Tomescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eric Dică. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emanuel Tomescu ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 57th minute, Luca Decuseară hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mircea Cângea scored 0-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dumitru Atanasiu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 67 minutes, Mircea Cângea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gledeny's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mircea Cângea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mircea Cângea's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Dumitru Atanasiu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a rather tough play, FC STEAUA's Lucrețiu Schiau got a free kick in the 75th minute. After having played for 76 minutes, Octav Codrea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gledeny's zone, Emanuel Tomescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Dică came out of the goal and Emanuel Tomescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC STEAUA's Dumitru Atanasiu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save FC STEAUA from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, FC STEAUA's Dumitru Atanasiu got control of the ball when Mircea Cângea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mircea Cângea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dumitru Atanasiu having to interfere. Octav Codrea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
