Ioan Leu started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Rapid CFR booed when Liverpool Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ilie Tutunaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Rapid CFR's Mugurel Răducu broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 19 minutes of play, Liverpool Academy's Ioan Leu made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Horaţiu Mavrogheni was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee felt a red card was in order, 22 minutes into the game, when Ilie Tutunaru put in a rough tackle. Mugurel Răducu walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Costin Macavei recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Liverpool Academy's Lucrețiu Carabulea got a free kick in the 30th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Rapid CFR's Mugurel Răducu broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Alex Beșliu struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Petruț Suciu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid CFR. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Beșliu in the 47th minute of play forced Liverpool Academy's goalkeeper Petruț Suciu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alex Beșliu to make the kick off. After 57 minutes of play, Rapid CFR's Alex Beșliu made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Costin Macavei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Petruț Suciu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alex Beșliu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Costin Macavei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st match minute, Rapid CFR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Dobrin to maneuver through the defense. Petruț Suciu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Macavei in the 77th minute of play. If Costin Macavei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rapid CFR's Horaţiu Mavrogheni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Rapid CFR from getting a goal against them.
