The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes of play, Mineu's Lázaro Odon made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Horia Filipașcu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mihai Bălțăteanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Hrebenciuc having to interfere. Mihai Bălțăteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ovidiu Jucan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Emanuel Hrebenciuc made a huge save. 12 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goal looked a bit too open when Eugen Chifan came free, but Horia Filipașcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihai Bălțăteanu in the 15th minute of play forced Mineu's goalkeeper Emanuel Hrebenciuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Republica Ploiești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Tuleiu to maneuver through the defense. Eugen Chifan struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Horia Filipașcu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mineu. 21 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goal looked a bit too open when Iustinian Aldulea came free, but Horia Filipașcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Virgil Teodorescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the game, Mihai Bălțăteanu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emanuel Hrebenciuc. Mihai Bălțăteanu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Mihai Bălțăteanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Hrebenciuc having to interfere. Republica Ploiești's Mihai Bălțăteanu got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Virgil Teodorescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goal looked a bit too open when Lázaro Odon came free, but Horia Filipașcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lázaro Odon to strike the kick off in the second half. A throw-in in the 52nd minute of the game was made by Vintilă Crăciun with Ovidiu Jucan as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Horia Filipașcu was a little too slow when Augustin Bărbătescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 2-2. In the 56th minute, Virgil Teodorescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Mineu's Horia Filipașcu threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lázaro Odon, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 61 minutes, Ioan Ciucă mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Republica Ploiești and the Mineu players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Republica Ploiești's Ioan Ciucă got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute, Republica Ploiești's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Eugen Chifan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 67th minute Mihai Bălțăteanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Hrebenciuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Mineu getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Lázaro Odon hit a great ball. Virgil Teodorescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emanuel Hrebenciuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihai Bălțăteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Mihai Bălțăteanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mineu's Emanuel Hrebenciuc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihai Bălțăteanu in the 77th minute of play. In the 78th match minute, Republica Ploiești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petru Chiuzbaian to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Republica Ploiești's zone, Iustinian Aldulea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horia Filipașcu came out of the goal and Iustinian Aldulea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Republica Ploiești's Horia Filipașcu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Republica Ploiești from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viorel Caramarin in the 84th minute of play forced Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Horia Filipașcu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iustinian Aldulea got free with Horia Filipașcu in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alexandru Berca kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. If Aurel Geambașu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mineu players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
