With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeo Gavrilescu in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dumitru Ştef saved Ghergheleu CSS from getting behind. When Romeo Gavrilescu came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the STEAUA Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Gavrilescu couldn't finish the play. 17 minutes into the game, Leonard Drăgan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ghergheleu CSS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave STEAUA Bucuresti the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Ghergheleu CSS's zone, Andrei Vintilescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dumitru Ştef came out of the goal and Andrei Vintilescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Petruț Burdujan charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Petruț Burdujan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes STEAUA Bucuresti got a freekick which was hit by Petruț Burdujan. In the 29th minute Romeo Gavrilescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dumitru Ştef saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeo Gavrilescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Dumitru Ştef tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrei Vintilescu took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dumitru Ştef. Dumitru Ştef dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Andrei Vintilescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. STEAUA Bucuresti's supporters rose to their feet, but Andrei Vintilescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dumitru Ştef breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dumitru Ştef showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romeo Gavrilescu in the 36th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ghergheleu CSS's Leonard Crăiniceanu got a free kick in the 36th minute. If Romeo Gavrilescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andrei Vintilescu in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dumitru Ştef prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonard Drăgan in the 43rd minute of play forced STEAUA Bucuresti's goalkeeper Sandu Cobâlcescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute, Doru Zotincă hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. STEAUA Bucuresti's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
