An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernest Zorlescu in the 3rd minute of play forced Tarculesti's goalkeeper Tiberiu Manciulea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Tarculesti booed when Galaxy Lupeni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horaţiu Nica didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Ernest Zorlescu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiberiu Manciulea. Tarculesti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernest Zorlescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Eugen Negreanu's late challenge caught a Galaxy Lupeni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Galaxy Lupeni's Corneliu Vuia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Galaxy Lupeni from getting a goal against them. Corneliu Vuia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Negreanu in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 48 minutes, Valentin Firu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galaxy Lupeni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valentin Firu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 78th match minute, Galaxy Lupeni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horaţiu Amitroaiei to maneuver through the defense. Eugen Negreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eduard Barna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 83rd minute, Isac Grigore had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. During the 83rd minute of the match Horaţiu Nica completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Horaţiu Nica a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Aurelian Creteanu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Filip Uncheşu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
