Ernest Zorlescu started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Galaxy Lupeni's zone, Rareș Lepuș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Corneliu Vuia came out of the goal and Rareș Lepuș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Corneliu Vuia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rareș Lepuș, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. After 6 minutes, Isac Ghionaru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C.Olympique de Bucarest and the Galaxy Lupeni players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th minute, Isac Ghionaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute, Mugurel Pavelescu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Fabian Craia didn't even have to move. Galaxy Lupeni's players were relieved. The nice shot from Fabian Tender in the 20thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Corneliu Vuia had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Fabian Craia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernest Zorlescu in the 23rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ernest Zorlescu in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fabian Craia saved F.C.Olympique de Bucarest from getting behind. In the 26th play minute Fabian Tender came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Corneliu Vuia. 1-0. Cornel Jitaru's late challenge caught a F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cornel Jitaru helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th minute, Cornel Jitaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Corneliu Vuia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Tender in the 31st minute of play. Rareș Lepuș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabian Tender might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Corneliu Vuia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabian Tender ran back to his position shaking his head. After 37 minutes, Ioan Şuplăcan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C.Olympique de Bucarest and the Galaxy Lupeni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ioan Şuplăcan hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Fabian Craia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valentin Firu's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. After 41 minutes, Irinel Şoiman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C.Olympique de Bucarest and the Galaxy Lupeni players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of F.C.Olympique de Bucarest:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Galaxy Lupeni:s goal. In the 43rd minute there was a penalty for Galaxy Lupeni. Mugurel Pavelescu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Fabian Craia. 1-1. 47 minutes into the match, Valentin Firu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabian Craia. F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentin Firu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After the first half Galaxy Lupeni were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Rareș Lepuș made the kick off in the second half. Aurelian Creteanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Fabian Craia made a huge save. Fabian Craia was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ernest Zorlescu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 54 minute of play. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's goalkeeper Fabian Craia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Corneliu Vuia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rareș Lepuș in the 68th minute of play. If Ernest Zorlescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
