Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5626, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Alexandru Panciu took the kick off in the first half of the match. Horia Grama struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Nae Bucurescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CFR Cluj. Nae Bucurescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marius Manole in the 11th minute of play. In the 14th minute Horia Grama shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Bucurescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandru Panciu in the 18th minute of play forced Cioroboreni's goalkeeper Nae Bucurescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alexandru Panciu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Horia Grama in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nae Bucurescu saved Cioroboreni from getting behind. Stelian Andreescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcu Cucerzan having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cioroboreni's zone, Horia Grama stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nae Bucurescu came out of the goal and Horia Grama tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aristide Miniș's late challenge caught a Cioroboreni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aristide Miniș helped the player get up and apologised. Eugen Nenciu kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Cioroboreni's Nae Bucurescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandru Panciu in the 46th minute of play. In the 49th minute, Marius Manole hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Nae Bucurescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandru Panciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute, Alexandru Panciu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nae Bucurescu, passed just outside the right post. When Alexandru Panciu came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the CFR Cluj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandru Panciu couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd minute, Horia Grama ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nae Bucurescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Horia Grama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Nae Bucurescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Horia Grama fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nae Bucurescu having to interfere. Alexandru Panciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horia Grama's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nae Bucurescu firmly grabbed it by the left post. Nae Bucurescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexandru Panciu's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Mihai Albu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horia Grama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Nae Bucurescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CFR Cluj played a much better game than Cioroboreni and deserved their victory. The Cioroboreni players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
