Victor Botgros came out of the goal and Ferdinand Elefteriu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gabriel Tutunaru fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Steaua FC Iasi's protests and gave Gabriel Tutunaru a yellow card for diving instead. When Atletico Iasi's Adam Bobeanu in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Atletico Iasi's Victor Botgros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Atletico Iasi from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Horia in the 34th minute of play forced Atletico Iasi's goalkeeper Victor Botgros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Horia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Victor Botgros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nichifor Aluncai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandru Necșulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristian Horia was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Atletico Iasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narcis Ecobici to maneuver through the defense. Emilian Sfârlea struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Nichifor Aluncai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Iasi. The Atletico Iasi players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
