Petre Varga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17thth minute of the game Iosif Silvian who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nittony Lions's Viorel Drăucean was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Octavian Oargă succeeded in the game's 19th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Viorel Drăucean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iosif Silvian in the 22nd minute of the match. A collision led to Nittony Lions getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Florin Malcoci hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Romania were awarded a corner. Daniel Benga went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 41st minute of the game, Irinel Todea landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. A collision led to Romania getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Dorin Păvăloae hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Moise Costeiantu made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Petre Varga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Romania's supporters rose to their feet, but Petre Varga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viorel Drăucean breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Moise Costeiantu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilian Hurmuzescu having to interfere. Viorel Drăucean didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Romania. When Iosif Silvian came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iosif Silvian couldn't finish the play. After 94 played minutes Romania got a freekick which was hit by Ion Sticlaru. The Nittony Lions players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Romania from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
