Spectators: 6872 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Robert Antoniu took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 3 played minutes Fc Steaua got a freekick which was hit by Iosif Gavrilă. Panait Socoriceanu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Radu Olariu. Fc Steaua's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Robert Antoniu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicu Urdoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Nicolae Aelenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicolae Aelenei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicu Urdoi in the 12th minute of the match. When Grigore Opriș came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Fc Steaua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Grigore Opriș couldn't finish the play. ACS Catenaccio's Robert Antoniu got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 28 minutes, Nicolae Aelenei successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 30 minutes into the match, Nicu Urdoi notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of ACS Catenaccio's Nicolae Aelenei. Nicolae Aelenei was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Tapalagă in the 34th minute of play forced Fc Steaua's goalkeeper Radu Olariu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Radu Olariu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergiu Tapalagă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grigore Opriș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 45 played minutes ACS Catenaccio got a freekick which was hit by Sergiu Tapalagă. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When Grigore Opriș fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fc Steaua's protests and gave Grigore Opriș a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd match minute, Fc Steaua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigore Opriș to maneuver through the defense. When ACS Catenaccio's Robert Antoniu in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fc Steaua's goalie prevented a goal. Augustin Olteanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Radu Olariu made a huge save. ACS Catenaccio's Nicolae Aelenei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicu Urdoi in the 60th minute of play. Augustin Olteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute Nicu Urdoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolae Aelenei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, Fc Steaua's goalkeeper Radu Olariu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Augustin Olteanu. When Fc Steaua's Nicu Urdoi in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With a little luck, Fc Steaua's Radu Olariu got control of the ball when Sergiu Tapalagă tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of ACS Catenaccio booed when Fc Steaua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicu Călin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Radu Olariu came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by ACS Catenaccio's Augustin Olteanu. But to his dismay, Augustin Olteanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
