Iacob Ortacu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Pavel Cârnațiu made a huge save. Dumitru Gârneață received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Pavel Cârnațiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steluta Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabian Hârciog in the 9th minute. It was a well-played corner which Iacob Ortacu managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Dumitru Gârneață fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pavel Cârnațiu having to interfere. In the 13th minute Dumitru Gârneață shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Cârnațiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Penes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 27th minute, Dumitru Gârneață fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Pavel Cârnațiu, passed just outside the right post. 30 minutes into the match, Dumitru Gârneață dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Pavel Cârnațiu, 2-1. After having played for 35 minutes, Claudiu Griguță managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudiu Griguță was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Steluta Juniors's Dumitru Gârneață got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Penes's Luca Ponta got a free kick in the 38th minute. Dumitru Gârneață's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pavel Cârnațiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. If Iacob Ortacu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dacian Seremet was the one to do the kick off. Iacob Ortacu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 60 played minutes Penes got a freekick which was hit by Panait Ghițescu. Dumitru Gârneață received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iustin Neguțu during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Penes booed when Steluta Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iustin Neguțu didn't get a good kick on the ball.
