The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pavel Cârnațiu had great luck who in the 6thth minute grab hold of the ball when Fabian Gâlcă from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 9 minutes into the game, Claudiu Griguță cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Emanuel Botescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 14th minute, Fabian Gâlcă made a precise shot to the right of Pavel Cârnațiu. Penes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Pompiliu Voineag's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pavel Cârnațiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Pompiliu Voineag recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Codrin Ştefănică was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FCM Bacau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Penes the free kick. The supporters of Penes booed when FCM Bacau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Ştefănică didn't get a good kick on the ball. FCM Bacau's Emanuel Botescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dacian Seremet in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Pompiliu Voineag had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pavel Cârnațiu. Penes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pompiliu Voineag was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Pompiliu Voineag's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pavel Cârnațiu firmly grabbed it by the left post. Pompiliu Voineag was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Codrin Ştefănică hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Mihail Hâjdău hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 48 minutes of play, Penes's Dacian Seremet made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emanuel Botescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Emanuel Botescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penes. If Dacian Seremet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Dacian Seremet came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Penes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dacian Seremet couldn't finish the play. Dacian Seremet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudiu Griguță received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Emanuel Botescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
