Nicu Urdoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grigore Opriș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Emanuel Botescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the game, Mihail Hâjdău was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FCM Bacau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Steaua the free kick. The supporters of Fc Steaua booed when FCM Bacau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihail Hâjdău didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute of the match Nichifor Gâțea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Radu Olariu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. FCM Bacau's Pompiliu Voineag got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Fabian Gâlcă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Radu Olariu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabian Gâlcă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Radu Olariu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pompiliu Voineag's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fabian Gâlcă to make the kick off. Grigore Opriș recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 52nd minute Nicu Urdoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Botescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the FCM Bacau defense, Nicu Urdoi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emanuel Botescu. The FCM Bacau fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emanuel Botescu should have stopped the shot. In the 67th minute, Nicu Urdoi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fc Steaua fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. 72 minutes into the game, Nichifor Gâțea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FCM Bacau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Steaua the free kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicu Urdoi in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emanuel Botescu saved FCM Bacau from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paul Cristea during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. FCM Bacau's Emanuel Botescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigore Opriș in the 85th minute of play. FCM Bacau's Mihail Hâjdău got his second yellow card of the match in the 86th minute. The referee ordered Mihail Hâjdău off the ground. After 86 played minutes FCM Bacau got a freekick which was hit by Mihail Hâjdău. Pompiliu Voineag sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Fc Steaua's Nicu Călin got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Radu Olariu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Eliodor Macovei. Fc Steaua's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
