The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pavel Hristea during the 5th minute. The Varangienii fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in AC Vulcano's zone, Valentin Ilica stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mugur Nițulescu came out of the goal and Valentin Ilica tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pavel Hristea in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mugur Nițulescu saved AC Vulcano from getting behind. 24 minutes into the match, AC Vulcano's Lucrețiu Moisil sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgar Mititelu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Varangienii booed when AC Vulcano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diderik Rooy didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pavel Hristea in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mugur Nițulescu saved AC Vulcano from getting behind. Valentin Ilica recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lucrețiu Moisil got free with Edgar Mititelu in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucrețiu Moisil to make the kick off. Constantin Cângea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Laurend Van den Driesch struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Edgar Mititelu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AC Vulcano. Diderik Rooy scored 1-1 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edgar Mititelu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Varangienii's Edgar Mititelu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavian Olbrechts in the 60th minute of play. When the match clock showed 63 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Lucrețiu Moisil sped through Varangienii's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edgar Mititelu. Edgar Mititelu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diderik Rooy in the 68th minute of play. Varangienii's Edgar Mititelu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucrețiu Moisil in the 70th minute of play. When AC Vulcano's Diderik Rooy in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. AC Vulcano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diderik Rooy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aurelian Dragomir charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aurelian Dragomir the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 85th minute, Aurelian Dragomir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Lucrețiu Moisil managed to get in a good position for a shot. AC Vulcano's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucrețiu Moisil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgar Mititelu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lucrețiu Moisil kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Varangienii's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
