Spectators: 7568 (Terracing: 5792, Seating: 1776, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Romeo Baldu kicked off to start the match. When Ovidiu Petrean came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the FC UNIREA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ovidiu Petrean couldn't finish the play. Ferdinand Toacsen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Pavel Geamănu made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nichifor Bărbătescu during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 7 minutes into the match, Romeo Baldu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dorel Lupșoiu. FC UNIREA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romeo Baldu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Baldu in the 10th minute of play forced FC UNIREA's goalkeeper Dorel Lupșoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ferdinand Toacsen in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pavel Geamănu saved Coca from getting behind. When Eliodor Banciu fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coca's protests and gave Eliodor Banciu a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC UNIREA's Nichifor Bărbătescu got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 17 minutes of play, FC UNIREA's Ovidiu Petrean made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pavel Geamănu was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Coca getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Eliodor Banciu hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Paul Bernea managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC UNIREA's supporters rose to their feet, but Paul Bernea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pavel Geamănu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferdinand Toacsen in the 22nd minute of play forced Coca's goalkeeper Pavel Geamănu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paul Bernea who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Pavel Geamănu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 28th minute, Ferdinand Toacsen made a precise shot to the right of Pavel Geamănu. Coca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 37thth minute of the game Ferdinand Toacsen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coca's Pavel Geamănu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dorel Lupșoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcu Cutieru in the 42nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gică Bâru during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC UNIREA getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Gică Bâru hit a great ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ferdinand Toacsen was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paul Bernea in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pavel Geamănu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 52nd minute, Ferdinand Toacsen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Coca getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Marcu Cutieru hit a great ball. Coca's Pavel Geamănu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdinand Toacsen in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, FC UNIREA's Ferdinand Toacsen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pavel Geamănu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 62nd match minute, FC UNIREA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niculae Eftimiu to maneuver through the defense. Marcu Ciorănescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dorel Lupșoiu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcu Ciorănescu ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute, Marcu Ciorănescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pavel Geamănu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidiu Petrean, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. FC UNIREA's Dorel Lupșoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Baldu in the 78th minute of play. Marcu Cutieru's late challenge caught a FC UNIREA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcu Cutieru helped the player get up and apologised. Pavel Geamănu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ovidiu Petrean went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of FC UNIREA booed when Coca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valeriu Manolache didn't get a good kick on the ball. 91 minutes into the game, one of FC UNIREA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. FC UNIREA:s Dorel Lupșoiu showed great skill when he stopped Marcu Ciorănescu:s penalty. When the referee ended the match the FC UNIREA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
