Spectators: 7852 (Terracing: 5890, Seating: 1806, VIP seats: 156) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Osvaldo Fontana kicked off to start the match. Mircea Udroiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramon Lombera, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. But to his dismay, Ramon Lombera quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 18 minutes into the game, CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Osvaldo Fontana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mircea Udroiu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Osvaldo Fontana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mircea Udroiu having to make a save. In the 30th minute, Nae Hârțan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nae Hârțan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes in the game, Osvaldo Fontana dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 39 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Fontana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Mircea Udroiu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Grigore Năsturel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ramon Lombera might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mircea Udroiu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ramon Lombera ran back to his position shaking his head. CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Osvaldo Fontana got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 59 played minutes GSBC Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Marin Buciuman. After 62 minutes, Dumitru Barbăsură mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GSBC Cluj-Napoca and the CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to GSBC Cluj-Napoca getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Dumitru Barbăsură hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Osvaldo Fontana put it in 0-8 from a short distance just to the right of Mircea Udroiu. If Osvaldo Fontana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the game, Nae Hârțan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mircea Udroiu. Nae Hârțan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-9. After a defensive mix-up in GSBC Cluj-Napoca's zone, Osvaldo Fontana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mircea Udroiu came out of the goal and Osvaldo Fontana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Osvaldo Fontana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mircea Udroiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Osvaldo Fontana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mircea Udroiu having to interfere. Mircea Udroiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nae Hârțan in the 87th minute of play. The supporters of GSBC Cluj-Napoca booed when CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Fontana didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Osvaldo Fontana got a free kick in the 90th minute. Mircea Udroiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Fontana in the 92nd minute of the match. When Grigore Năsturel fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GSBC Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave Grigore Năsturel a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA booed when GSBC Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Frățilă didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than GSBC Cluj-Napoca throughout the match.
