After some careless play in the Gherghita FCM defense, Valer Ghionea kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tudor Davidescu. The Gherghita FCM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tudor Davidescu should have stopped the shot. S.S. Lazio Craiova's Octavian Manole proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save S.S. Lazio Craiova from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Valer Ghionea managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.S. Lazio Craiova's supporters rose to their feet, but Valer Ghionea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Gherghita FCM's zone, Sandu Lopatnicu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tudor Davidescu came out of the goal and Sandu Lopatnicu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 69 minutes, Sandu Lopatnicu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.S. Lazio Craiova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandu Lopatnicu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by Valer Ghionea got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Călin Zăreanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Octavian Manole tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, S.S. Lazio Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Narcis Zăvoiu came free, but Octavian Manole reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Gherghita FCM getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Andrei Scutaru hit a great ball. Tudor Davidescu came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by S.S. Lazio Craiova's Valer Ghionea. But to his dismay, Valer Ghionea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4.
