Artur Matela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leontin Luncaniță, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 7thth minute of the game Valentin Ciuhandu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Iacob Bârsescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 10th minute Basarab Crăiniceanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iacob Bârsescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Artur Matela stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cosmin Tofan's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cosmin Tofan in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artur Matela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Viorel Ghionescu hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Cosmin Tofan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Matela having to interfere. The supporters of ASU Politehnica Timisoara booed when Herford FCM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anıl Ozan Dahi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 27 played minutes Herford FCM got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Crăiniceanu. Viorel Ghionescu's late challenge caught a ASU Politehnica Timisoara's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Viorel Ghionescu helped the player get up and apologised. Viorel Ghionescu kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Dacian Greavu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 35 minutes of play, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Cosmin Tofan made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Artur Matela was left in no man's land by his defense there! All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Leontin Luncaniță had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artur Matela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dacian Greavu in the 61st minute of the match. Dacian Greavu scored 3-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Matela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 71 minutes into the match, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Ciuhandu came free, but Iacob Bârsescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Artur Matela didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Cosmin Tofan shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 4-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Artur Matela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leontin Luncaniță, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Herford FCM's Valentin Ciuhandu got a free kick in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. ASU Politehnica Timisoara had played much better football throughout.
