After 14 played minutes, Dragoiasa's Costin Găvănescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Iacob Răduța came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dragoiasa reached it. Iosif Ghionaru's late challenge caught a Dragoiasa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iosif Ghionaru helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Brestea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iosif Ghionaru to maneuver through the defense. Gheorghe Boerescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicu Baldovin having to interfere. Costin Găvănescu hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After having played for 25 minutes, Dan Gheție managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brestea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Gheție was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gheorghe Boerescu made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Boerescu in the 58th minute of play forced Dragoiasa's goalkeeper Nicu Baldovin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Brestea's Gheorghe Boerescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicu Baldovin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 90th minute Călin Bocșan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicu Baldovin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gheorghe Boerescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Brestea fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dragoiasa had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
