The Steaua Bucuresti fans' excitement grew in the 8th match minute when Steaua Bucuresti's Basarab Neicu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 12 played minutes -PSC- Borea AFC got a freekick which was hit by Damian Ţîrlea. In the 13th minute, Ilie Buceceanu made a precise shot to the right of Valer Ciolofan. -PSC- Borea AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 16 minutes into the match, Ilie Buceceanu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valer Ciolofan. -PSC- Borea AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ilie Buceceanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After having played for 19 minutes, David Guriță managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Guriță was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Radu Panaite sped through -PSC- Borea AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Valer Ciolofan. If Radu Panaite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Radu Panaite blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valer Ciolofan having to make a save. Valer Ciolofan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Radu Panaite's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Basarab Neicu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Steaua Bucuresti's supporters rose to their feet, but Basarab Neicu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valer Ciolofan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valer Ciolofan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radu Panaite, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 45th match minute, -PSC- Borea AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nichifor Ţirpescu to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Valer Ciolofan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Guriță in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 minutes -PSC- Borea AFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sever Chelaru who took care of the corner kick. Basarab Neicu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Valer Ciolofan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Valer Ciolofan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Radu Panaite in the 56th minute. After having played for 60 minutes, Sever Chelaru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sever Chelaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute, David Guriță got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 71st minute David Guriță shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valer Ciolofan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Constantin Șofran charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Constantin Șofran the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, -PSC- Borea AFC's goalkeeper Valer Ciolofan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Radu Panaite. A hard shot 90 in the game by Basarab Neicu from a close distance when the talented Valer Ciolofan managed to make a qualified save. -PSC- Borea AFC's players were relieved. Sever Chelaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Valer Ciolofan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sever Chelaru's shot from short distance in the 98th minute. When the match was over Steaua Bucuresti could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than -PSC- Borea AFC throughout the match.
