Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Felix Chevereșan to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Steaua's Nicodim Orădan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anton Ursulescu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atlético Timișoara's goalkeeper Anton Ursulescu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Iordache Floricel's late challenge caught a Steaua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anton Ursulescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua. Nicodim Orădan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anton Ursulescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
