An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Zbughină in the 14th minute of play forced Blackbeard's goalkeeper Răzvan Gâgea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Blackbeard's Răzvan Gâgea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Blackbeard from getting a goal against them. Gabriel Calini hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Răzvan Gâgea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dragoş Elenescu in the 17th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Răzvan Gâgea successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 21st minute Cristian Zbughină shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Răzvan Gâgea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panait Bârlea's late challenge caught a Basil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Panait Bârlea helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Basil booed when Blackbeard was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Panait Bârlea didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Dragoş Elenescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Basil's supporters rose to their feet, but Dragoş Elenescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Răzvan Gâgea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Zbughină might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Răzvan Gâgea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Zbughină ran back to his position shaking his head. 31 minutes into the match, Blackbeard's goal looked a bit too open when Dragoş Elenescu came free, but Răzvan Gâgea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cazimir Penaru got a throw-in 32 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Panait Bârlea. Avram Tărbac charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Avram Tărbac the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Avram Tărbac hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. If Dragoş Elenescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Răzvan Gâgea was a little too slow when Dragoş Elenescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 1-1. Irinel Zburlea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dragoş Elenescu made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Blackbeard's Irinel Zburlea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Narcis Murgescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 60th minute of the match Costin Nițisor shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Răzvan Gâgea showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 65 minutes, Cristian Zbughină managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Basil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Zbughină was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Răzvan Gâgea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dragoş Elenescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th minute Dragoş Elenescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Răzvan Gâgea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Răzvan Gâgea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dragoş Elenescu in the 78th minute of play.
