Spectators: 7692 (Terracing: 5770, Seating: 1769, VIP seats: 153) FC POLI TIMISOARA's Emilian Tărău started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 10 minutes into the game, Panait Nicoliță was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC POLI TIMISOARA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gottlob the free kick. A collision led to FC POLI TIMISOARA getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Panait Nicoliță hit a great ball. After 12 played minutes Gottlob got a freekick which was hit by Gigi Todoran. Emilian Tărău could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Marcel Bilașco made a huge save. Marcel Bilașco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emilian Tărău in the 22nd minute. Cazimir Marincean showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihnea Şerbănescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 25th match minute, Gottlob was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narcis Mardare to maneuver through the defense. Marcel Bilașco was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Irinel Breazu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 31 minute of play. With a little luck, Gottlob's Marcel Bilașco got control of the ball when Robert Nestor tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcel Bilașco was a little too slow when Emilian Tărău got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 35th minute. The score was now 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narcis Mardare in the 38th minute of play forced FC POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Cazimir Marincean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, FC POLI TIMISOARA's Irinel Breazu got a free kick in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, FC POLI TIMISOARA's goal looked a bit too open when Francisc Iliuță came free, but Cazimir Marincean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes into the game, Alexandru Maghear recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marcel Bilașco. Alexandru Maghear showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Narcis Mardare to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Narcis Mardare shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cazimir Marincean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cazimir Marincean didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Narcis Mardare went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Panait Nicoliță sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute Horia Georgescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cazimir Marincean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gottlob's Marcel Bilașco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilian Tărău in the 73rd minute of play. After 73 played minutes Gottlob got a freekick which was hit by Gigi Todoran. Cazimir Marincean showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narcis Mardare, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Robert Nestor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcel Bilașco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. The Gottlob supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gottlob would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
