Spectators: 7691 (Terracing: 5769, Seating: 1769, VIP seats: 153) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Valeriu Maniu took the kick off in the first half of the match. Andrei Bântu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valeriu Maniu, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. 6 minutes into the game, Codrin Iovan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sarafinesti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- the free kick. A collision led to Sarafinesti getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Codrin Iovan hit a great ball. Valeriu Maniu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergiu Sălcudeanu took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrei Bântu. Andrei Bântu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Sergiu Sălcudeanu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Andrei Bântu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Sarafinesti's zone, Sergiu Sălcudeanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrei Bântu came out of the goal and Sergiu Sălcudeanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- booed when Sarafinesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Iovan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Cristinel Buda had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horea Haidău. FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristinel Buda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 31 played minutes FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- got a freekick which was hit by Gavril Mihăescu. Horea Haidău came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Sarafinesti's Cristinel Buda. But to his dismay, Cristinel Buda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After having played for 42 minutes, Iordache Siadbei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Iordache Siadbei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 44th match minute, Sarafinesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinu Păltineanu to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s Gavril Mihăescu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. The FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sarafinesti were winning 2-3.

In the 53rd minute Iordache Siadbei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrei Bântu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costel Patriciu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horea Haidău having to interfere. Cristinel Buda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Horea Haidău tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costel Patriciu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 58th minute. Sarafinesti's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Sălcudeanu in the 61st minute of play forced Sarafinesti's goalkeeper Andrei Bântu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute Valeriu Maniu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrei Bântu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Sarafinesti's goal looked a bit too open when Sergiu Sălcudeanu came free, but Andrei Bântu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrei Bântu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valeriu Maniu in the 67th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s Iurie Văduva seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Iurie Văduva the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Iurie Văduva had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! In the 74th minute there was a penalty for Sarafinesti. Dinu Păltineanu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Horea Haidău. 2-4. The supporters of Sarafinesti booed when FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavril Mihăescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 3-4 when Valeriu Maniu sped through Sarafinesti's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andrei Bântu. If Cornel Iorga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s Horea Haidău got control of the ball when Costel Patriciu tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Iordache Siadbei came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iordache Siadbei couldn't finish the play. Valeriu Maniu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Andrei Bântu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sarafinesti's Andrei Bântu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iordache Siadbei in the 94th minute of play. In the 95th minute, Cornel Iorga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valeriu Maniu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sarafinesti had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
