The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Octav Zbârlea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Augustin Tătaru's late challenge caught a Lapus's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augustin Tătaru helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fotbal Club Brasovia getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Augustin Tătaru hit a great ball. Cristian Senin might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cornel Cercelescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Senin ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciprian Macovescu got free with Marcel Corcoveanu in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Fotbal Club Brasovia getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Valentin Gheorghiu hit a great ball. In the 27th minute Cristian Senin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornel Cercelescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandu Gabor struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Cornel Cercelescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lapus. After having played for 32 minutes, Mihnea Praporgescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lapus's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihnea Praporgescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mihnea Praporgescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the match, Fotbal Club Brasovia's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Senin came free, but Cornel Cercelescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mihnea Praporgescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Cornel Cercelescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lapus's Mihnea Praporgescu got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Mihnea Praporgescu made the kick off in the second half. Cristian Senin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 60thth minute of the game Ciprian Macovescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lapus's Marcel Corcoveanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cornel Cercelescu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sandu Gabor showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 64 minute of play. Mihnea Praporgescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornel Cercelescu having to interfere. If Mihnea Praporgescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Lapus's Mihnea Praporgescu in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fotbal Club Brasovia's goalie prevented a goal. After 84 played minutes Lapus got a freekick which was hit by Mihail Buligan. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Lapus had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
