With an extended leg and a bit of luck Viorel Maghiran prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niculae Frânculescu made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Steaua Bucuresti's zone, Niculae Frânculescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hami Geçer came out of the goal and Niculae Frânculescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Viorel Maghiran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 53rd minute of play. Berindel's Viorel Maghiran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Berindel from getting a goal against them. Berindel's defense didn't have a chance, in the 94th minute, when Roel Meertens scored to the left of an out of position Viorel Maghiran, making the score, 0-9. When the match was over Steaua Bucuresti could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Berindel throughout the match.
