In the 3rd minute Silviu Baldovin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hami Geçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 3rd play minute Silviu Baldovin came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Hami Geçer. 1-0. Bancila's Leo 万 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doru Dănănae in the 9th minute of play. After some careless play in the Bancila defense, Doru Dănănae kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leo 万. The Bancila fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leo 万 should have stopped the shot. Leo 万 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florín Răducioiu in the 14th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Almantas Svetulevičius in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hami Geçer saved Steaua Bucuresti from getting behind. A collision led to Bancila getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Hồ Doro hit a great ball. When Cristian Ploieșteanu came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Steaua Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Ploieșteanu couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Doru Dănănae in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leo 万 saved Bancila from getting behind. Almantas Svetulevičius's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Hami Geçer skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hami Geçer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hồ Doro, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leo 万 saved Bancila from getting behind. Silviu Baldovin hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Almantas Svetulevičius managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bancila's supporters rose to their feet, but Almantas Svetulevičius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hami Geçer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 35th match minute, Bancila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michel Strömberg to maneuver through the defense. Leo 万 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Silviu Baldovin to make the kick off. Bancila were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Steaua Bucuresti's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nicolae Mugur took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Almantas Svetulevičius heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 58th minute of the match Steaua Bucuresti got a corner. Bancila's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Calistrat Lovin ran over to the corner to take the kick. Steaua Bucuresti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Calistrat Lovin in the 73rd minute. After taking down the ball on Steaua Bucuresti's corner Calistrat Lovin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Leo 万 quite easily take care of the ball. Cristian Ploieșteanu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Leo 万 when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Steaua Bucuresti booed when Bancila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Almantas Svetulevičius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Ploieșteanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leo 万 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florín Răducioiu got free with Leo 万 in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steaua Bucuresti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Calistrat Lovin in the 87th minute. Calistrat Lovin made a great header on Steaua Bucuresti's corner, it was just that Bancila's Leo 万 managed to reach the ball for a save. 90 minutes into the match, Bancila's goal looked a bit too open when Roel Meertens came free, but Leo 万 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Almantas Svetulevičius in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hami Geçer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 93rd minute, Silviu Baldovin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
