Eric Rizescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florín Răducioiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eric Rizescu came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Steaua Bucuresti's Remus Dudea. But to his dismay, Remus Dudea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferdinand Mardare in the 10th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Hami Geçer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Rizescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Ploieșteanu got free with Eric Rizescu in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 14th minute, Laurențiu Cojocaru reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eric Rizescu. The goal made the score 2-0. Eric Rizescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Florín Răducioiu in the 17th minute. Eric Rizescu was a little too slow when Florín Răducioiu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 3-0. Cavalerii Viola's Eric Rizescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Florín Răducioiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Rizescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. 28 minutes into the match, Doru Dănănae had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eric Rizescu. Cavalerii Viola's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Doru Dănănae was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Dănănae in the 32nd minute of play forced Cavalerii Viola's goalkeeper Eric Rizescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Steaua Bucuresti's Florín Răducioiu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eric Rizescu. That made the score 6-0 after 33 minutes of play. After some careless play in the Cavalerii Viola defense, Cristian Ploieșteanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eric Rizescu. The Cavalerii Viola fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eric Rizescu should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Dănănae in the 43rd minute of play forced Cavalerii Viola's goalkeeper Eric Rizescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute Florín Răducioiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Rizescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 8-0 at half-time.

Eric Rizescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Cavalerii Viola fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eric Rizescu should have stopped the shot. 60 minutes into the game, Doru Dănănae cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 11-0. Eric Rizescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Eric Rizescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florín Răducioiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 65th minute of play forced Cavalerii Viola's goalkeeper Eric Rizescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Rizescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Florín Răducioiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Steaua Bucuresti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 12-0. Steaua Bucuresti's Roel Meertens was substituted for Doru Dănănae. Eric Rizescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roel Meertens went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 13-0 was the resulting score. Eric Rizescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florín Răducioiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Florín Răducioiu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eric Rizescu. Cavalerii Viola's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Florín Răducioiu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 15-0. Eric Rizescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 86th minute of the match. Hami Geçer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferdinand Mardare, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After 92 minutes of play, Steaua Bucuresti's Roel Meertens made it 17-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eric Rizescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Steaua Bucuresti had played much better football throughout.
