Sandu Mihădaș was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 10 minutes into the match, Inter Canesti's goalkeeper Sandu Mihădaș had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sever Tomulescu. Sandu Mihădaș made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Sever Tomulescu sent off a good shot on target. Fc Universitatea Cluj's Laurențiu Ene played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Gligor in the 14th minute of play. Valeriu Sădeanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Sandu Mihădaș made a huge save. In the 18th minute, Petre Bercea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Vintilă Enigărescu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sandu Mihădaș, 2-0. After 23 minutes, Doru Secoşan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter Canesti and the Fc Universitatea Cluj players grew even worse after the yellow card. Doru Secoşan kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcel Gligor in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laurențiu Ene saved Fc Universitatea Cluj from getting behind. When Fc Universitatea Cluj's Vintilă Enigărescu in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Laurențiu Ene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ianis Hagi, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sever Tomulescu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Inter Canesti's goal looked a bit too open when Sever Tomulescu came free, but Sandu Mihădaș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vintilă Enigărescu in the 61st minute of play forced Inter Canesti's goalkeeper Sandu Mihădaș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute Vintilă Enigărescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandu Mihădaș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Gligor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laurențiu Ene read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. 4-0 became the score in the 73rd minute when Sever Tomulescu elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Marcel Gligor dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Laurențiu Ene, 4-1. Inter Canesti's Emil Ponta was substituted for Mihai Nediu. Fc Universitatea Cluj's Sever Tomulescu got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st match minute, Inter Canesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Zbârnea to maneuver through the defense. Sandu Mihădaș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tautrimas Čepulis in the 88th minute of the match. Iosif Zgaroi hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vintilă Enigărescu in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sandu Mihădaș saved Inter Canesti from getting behind. Fc Universitatea Cluj walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
