Rapid Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After taking down the ball on Rapid Bucuresti's corner Gabríel Tamás fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Augustin Vâlceanu quite easily take care of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Șerban Giosu made a kick off. Iurie Săndoi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vasile Lucian having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Șerban Giosu in the 54th minute of play forced Rapid Bucuresti's goalkeeper Vasile Lucian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iurie Săndoi in the 85thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. The Rapid Bucuresti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Rapid Bucuresti's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
