Mihai Bogdănescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bennvar Beard went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Korneliusz Kocieniewski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 13th minute, Claudiu Zăhărescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mihai Bogdănescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Beard in the 16th minute of play. Mihai Bogdănescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrei Agulescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC STEAUA BRAILA's Aron Hârțan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergiu Gherguț in the 18th minute of play. When Korneliusz Kocieniewski came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the FC STEAUA BRAILA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Korneliusz Kocieniewski couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute, Horaţiu Buciuman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Poli Iași's goal looked a bit too open when Korneliusz Kocieniewski came free, but Mihai Bogdănescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute Bennvar Beard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihai Bogdănescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Bennvar Beard ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mihai Bogdănescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 35 minutes into the match, Poli Iași's goal looked a bit too open when Bennvar Beard came free, but Mihai Bogdănescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Korneliusz Kocieniewski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mihai Bogdănescu. Poli Iași's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Korneliusz Kocieniewski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Korneliusz Kocieniewski scored 0-5 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mihai Bogdănescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Poli Iași's zone, Andrei Agulescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihai Bogdănescu came out of the goal and Andrei Agulescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC STEAUA BRAILA's Eliodor Grigoroiu was substituted for Jan-Simon Blanchaert. FC STEAUA BRAILA's Nichifor Borăscu was substituted for Bennvar Beard. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Korneliusz Kocieniewski made a kick off. Mihai Bogdănescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darwin Núñez in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 58th minute FC STEAUA BRAILA were awarded a corner. Andrei Agulescu went to the cornerflag to take it. Mihai Bogdănescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nichifor Borăscu in the 60th minute of play. When FC STEAUA BRAILA's Nichifor Borăscu in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 78th minute Nichifor Borăscu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihai Bogdănescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aron Hârțan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergiu Gherguț, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Mihai Bogdănescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darwin Núñez in the 86th minute of play. Darwin Núñez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mihai Bogdănescu came out and tried to block the shot, but Darwin Núñez slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 87th minute. When Nichifor Borăscu came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the FC STEAUA BRAILA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nichifor Borăscu couldn't finish the play. Mihai Bogdănescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Korneliusz Kocieniewski went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. When the match was over FC STEAUA BRAILA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Poli Iași throughout the match.
