Spectators: 8007 (Terracing: 6007, Seating: 1841, VIP seats: 159) Poli Iași's Octav Marchiș started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Mugur Stan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mugur Stan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FC Barcelona's Doru Opaina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horaţiu Buciuman in the 6th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Barcelona's Lucrețiu Giosu got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 11th minute, Aron Bălcescu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gelu Robescu. The goal made the score 1-0. Poli Iași's Octav Marchiș got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22nd minute Aron Bălcescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gelu Robescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Sebastian Cămărășescu put in a rough tackle. After 24 played minutes Poli Iași got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Cămărășescu. The long shot by Martin Buculeasa in the 25th minute really tested Gelu Robescu's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 28 minutes into the game, David Coșeriu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Poli Iași's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Barcelona the free kick. Poli Iași:s Gelu Robescu showed great skill when he stopped Martin Buculeasa:s penalty. 2-0 came in the 30th minute when Martin Buculeasa all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Gelu Robescu. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by Poli Iași's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Martin Buculeasa was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Barcelona's players had a chance to rest. The corner led FC Barcelona's Martin Buculeasa to fire away a dangerous shot which Gelu Robescu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Olimpiu Florean tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Gelu Robescu. An unnecessary self made goal, 3-0 in the 36th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Poli Iași's goal looked a bit too open when Aron Bălcescu came free, but Gelu Robescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Manole Coraș made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Aron Bălcescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gelu Robescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gelu Robescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mugur Stan, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Gelu Robescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aron Bălcescu in the 58th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Aron Bălcescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gelu Robescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugur Stan in the 66th minute of play forced Poli Iași's goalkeeper Gelu Robescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute Manole Coraș shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gelu Robescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gelu Robescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgil Visarion, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Mugur Stan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gelu Robescu having to interfere. After 87 minutes of play, FC Barcelona's Mugur Stan made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gelu Robescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Remus Nuțu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vicente Sal hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Barcelona fully deserved thier win.
