The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 minutes, Filip Mihele mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C. Baia Mare -MM- and the UFC Sarlotenburg players grew even worse after the yellow card. George Buzoianu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ernest Drogoreanu came out and tried to block the shot, but George Buzoianu slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 12th minute. After a rather tough play, F.C. Baia Mare -MM-'s Iulian Floruțiu got a free kick in the 14th minute. If Alin Baniu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernest Drogoreanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by George Buzoianu in the 24th minute. After some careless play in the UFC Sarlotenburg defense, George Buzoianu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernest Drogoreanu. The UFC Sarlotenburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernest Drogoreanu should have stopped the shot. Ernest Drogoreanu made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when George Buzoianu sent off a good shot on target. When Manuel Tărbac fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. Baia Mare -MM-'s protests and gave Manuel Tărbac a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to F.C. Baia Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Manuel Tărbac hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alin Baniu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. George Buzoianu might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernest Drogoreanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Buzoianu ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 63rd minute, George Buzoianu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. Baia Mare -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. 66 minutes into the match, F.C. Baia Mare -MM-'s George Buzoianu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ernest Drogoreanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Alin Baniu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, George Buzoianu managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C. Baia Mare -MM-'s supporters rose to their feet, but George Buzoianu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernest Drogoreanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of UFC Sarlotenburg booed when F.C. Baia Mare -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Baicea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicolae Măgureanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 73rd minute, Manuel Tărbac hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute, George Buzoianu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of F.C. Baia Mare -MM- booed when UFC Sarlotenburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorin Baicu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zsigmond Pál showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alin Baniu in the 82nd minute of the match. George Buzoianu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Drogoreanu having to interfere. F.C. Baia Mare -MM-'s Zsigmond Pál played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alin Baniu in the 90th minute of play.
