Max Smed's late challenge caught a FC Inter Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Max Smed helped the player get up and apologised. If Dale Couch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wictor Brovall made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marian Maghiran in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicolae Ghiorman saved Poli AEK from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marian Maghiran in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicolae Ghiorman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vasile Angelescu in the 61st minute of play forced Poli AEK's goalkeeper Nicolae Ghiorman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicolae Ghiorman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marian Maghiran in the 63rd minute of play. Bogdan Agrigoroaiei hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match.
