The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when Politehnica Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan Trzenzalski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emilian Feteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cazimir Tufescu in the 9th minute of play. Radu Jilăveanu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jorginho Queiroz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 14 minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, Jorginho Queiroz lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Radu Jilăveanu. In the 19th play minute Jan Trzenzalski came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Radu Jilăveanu. 3-0. Emilian Feteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cazimir Tufescu in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Jorginho Queiroz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Radu Jilăveanu. Jorginho Queiroz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Radu Jilăveanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiberiu Dulgherescu in the 29th minute of the match. With a little luck, New York Red Bulls's Radu Jilăveanu got control of the ball when Jan Trzenzalski tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jorginho Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Radu Jilăveanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Liviu Drăgan in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Nazım Taci hit a great ball. Radu Jilăveanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jan Trzenzalski went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 7-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jorginho Queiroz made a kick off. Radu Jilăveanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jan Trzenzalski's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. New York Red Bulls's Radu Jilăveanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Trzenzalski in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Tiberiu Dulgherescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Radu Jilăveanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 60 minutes into the match, Jan Trzenzalski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Radu Jilăveanu. New York Red Bulls's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jan Trzenzalski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 10-0. Jorginho Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Radu Jilăveanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the New York Red Bulls defense, Jan Trzenzalski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Radu Jilăveanu. The New York Red Bulls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Radu Jilăveanu should have stopped the shot. Radu Jilăveanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorginho Queiroz in the 69th minute of the match. Radu Jilăveanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorginho Queiroz went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 13-0 was the resulting score. Jan Trzenzalski took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Radu Jilăveanu. Radu Jilăveanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 14-1. Radu Jilăveanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cazimir Tufescus short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Emilian Feteanu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 90th minute, Jan Trzenzalski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Radu Jilăveanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 16-1. Emilian Feteanu stood somewhat misplaced when Nazım Taci came free in front of goal and shot 16-2 to the left of him in the 93 minute. When the referee ended the match the Politehnica Iasi players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
