Cetatea Suceava's Liviu Aldulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicu Nichitelea in the 2nd minute of play. When Jarbas Prestes came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the POLI TIMISOARA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarbas Prestes couldn't finish the play. Dinu Bocu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Mihai Domuță made a huge save. In the 16th minute Cetatea Suceava were awarded a corner. Eriberto Filipo went to the cornerflag to take it. Eriberto Filipo made a great header on Cetatea Suceava's corner, it was just that POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță managed to reach the ball for a save. Mihai Domuță was a little too slow when Emil Bălan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 1-0. When Efthimis Sardinis fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cetatea Suceava's protests and gave Efthimis Sardinis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, one of Cetatea Suceava:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cetatea Suceava. POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Elian in the 25th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jardel Meireles was the one to do the kick off. Mihai Domuță showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Barral, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Claudinei Barral took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mihai Domuță. Mihai Domuță dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 58 minutes into the match, Cetatea Suceava's goalkeeper Liviu Aldulescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Buculeasa. The audience was convinced that Cosmin Harbuz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Liviu Aldulescu was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Patricio Cerezuela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cetatea Suceava's zone, Filip Buculeasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Liviu Aldulescu came out of the goal and Filip Buculeasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. POLI TIMISOARA made a substitution. Eduard Zgabei replaced Marcelito Pajazo. Mihai Domuță showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinu Bocu, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute Claudinei Barral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihai Domuță saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jarbas Prestes during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cetatea Suceava's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2.
