The audience thought a goal was coming when Doru Onete got free with Ionuț Agusoaei in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 17 minutes into the match, Nimsoc TCN's goal looked a bit too open when Alf Tanner came free, but Bogdan Lobonț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Doru Onete kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ionuț Agusoaei. That made the score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. When Dragoş Domide fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balavanis's protests and gave Dragoş Domide a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Balavanis getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Dragoş Domide hit a great ball. Bogdan Lobonț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valer Văidianu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Balavanis's Ionuț Agusoaei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Enășoiu in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nimsoc TCN's Edgar Dobrescu got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Ionică Cucu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bogdan Lobonț. Nimsoc TCN's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Doru Onete received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Ionuț Agusoaei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ionuț Agusoaei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimeno Cordeal, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Bogdan Lobonț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grigore Şoiman in the 44th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Chants of Balavanis echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Nimsoc TCN had held the ball for most of the match.
