Mihai Domuță made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valer Văidianu in the 8th minute of play. Balavanis were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after POLI TIMISOARA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ionică Cucu took the corner. Jarbas Prestes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Ionuț Agusoaei when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grigore Şoiman in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihai Domuță saved POLI TIMISOARA from getting behind. The Balavanis fans' excitement grew in the 14th match minute when Balavanis's Grigore Şoiman looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 17th minute, POLI TIMISOARA's Nicu Nichitelea ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ionuț Agusoaei. Ionuț Agusoaei yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. In the 21st minute Balavanis were awarded a corner. Ionică Cucu went to the cornerflag to take it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grigore Şoiman in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihai Domuță saved POLI TIMISOARA from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Grigore Şoiman put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Mihai Domuță. Alf Tanner kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Ionuț Agusoaei didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicu Nichitelea went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of POLI TIMISOARA booed when Balavanis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Donciu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Balavanis's goal looked a bit too open when Nicu Nichitelea came free, but Ionuț Agusoaei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's goal looked a bit too open when Grigore Şoiman came free, but Mihai Domuță reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Grigore Şoiman made a kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Grigore Şoiman could shoot a difficult shot in the 51st minute, which Mihai Domuță however easily saved by the left post. Grigore Şoiman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Mihai Domuță made a huge save. Ionuț Agusoaei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jardel Meireles in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Jardel Meireles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ionuț Agusoaei. Balavanis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jardel Meireles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. POLI TIMISOARA's Aristide Buzilă was substituted for Jarbas Prestes. Dacian Vancea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute Nicu Nichitelea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionuț Agusoaei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Nicu Nichitelea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ionuț Agusoaei was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. Balavanis's Ferdinand Costa was substituted for Grigore Şoiman. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristide Buzilă in the 78th minute of play forced Balavanis's goalkeeper Ionuț Agusoaei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mihai Domuță was a little too slow when Ferdinand Costa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 5-3.
